Traveler Enjoys Central Park on 11/5/09

Here I am in Times Square, I love New York!

Maybe someday I will have my name up in lights, just like Coca Cola. Whoever he is...

We went for a walk in Central Park. I stopped for a drink at this fresh water trough. This water trough was presented to the ASPCA by Mrs. Henry Russell in 1908. Did you know the ASPCA was started because in 1866 a passerby intervened with a cart driver who was whipping his horse in New York City? This trough is still used today by the carriage horses who work in Central Park. The girls hate to see these horses working on the hard streets, pulling tourists around...

The leaves on the trees are changing and everything is looking beautiful.

Sally and I stopped for a moment to enjoy the fall leaves. So far, Sally has been very nice to me...

Along the way, I stopped to hear a guy playing music...

This is a real guy, dressed up like a bronze statue. He is celebrating the Yankees World Series win!

As I strolled by, he asked me to join him, so I did!

We stopped to watch the Carousel- I think this horse's bit is too tight! I was worried about him, but the girls reassured me...

Then, I went for a ride!

I am back in New York and I have a full schedule so it will be a busy ten days!

Traveler Journeys to Montezuma's Castle

Well, we finally had some time to go exploring around Sedona. The girls have been super busy with Tony's art show and events and I have had to sit in Jill's purse while they worked. Finally, they let me out!

Let's hit the road girls, let's go!

We stopped at an overlook, there is the town of Sedona below.

This is Cathedral Rock. I wanted to climb up to the top and to the big Vortex that is supposed to be up there, but the girls said we didn't have time. I am getting a bit mad at the girls...

This is Prickly Pear- it hurts!

There goes Sally, strolling right by. Wait up Sally! Since I can't seem to get her into a Vortex, maybe I can get her into a patch of Prickly Pear...

Wow! Look at that! It's Montezuma's Castle. This dwelling was built by the Sinagua farmers in the year 1100. Sinagua means "without water" and these people were a prehistoric culture that once flourished in the Verde Valley. I wonder what it would have been like to live way up there?

This is called Montezuma's Well. It is a limestone sinkhole through which 1.4 Million gallons of water flows every day! Incredibly the water remains at 76 degrees all year round.

The entire area was covered with Pueblos where people lived and farmed for hundreds of years. No one knows why, but in the 1400's the Southern Sinagua people abandoned their homes. It is believed that factors such as drought, depletion of natural resources, conflicts within the group or disease may have driven them out. Now, it is quiet and peaceful. I wonder why they didn't ever come back?

Just wanted to say a quick Hello, the girls have kept me so busy these last few days that I have not had time to Blog. I need to get my own computer, this is ridiculous...

This is the creek that runs right by our beautiful hotel. I like to sit and watch the ducks...

Sedona is incredible, very beautiful...

The girls told me we are going for a hike this afternoon and they mentioned something about a Vortex. I am wondering if I can lure Sally close to it and maybe send her into another dimension?

We shall see, Sally. We shall see...

Traveler goes to the Beach

I just got home from our weekend in Coronado. I was kept so busy that Jill never gave me a chance to Blog! Tony and I worked very hard, meeting fans and signing autographs and books. But, as I always say, "there is no rest for the wicked"...

I spent Saturday on the beach.

I snuggled with Jill's sister, Sarah.

Then with Jill's brother, Clint.

Then, Sally buried me in the sand. But, not after she kicked sand in my eye. I guess every beach has a bully...

So, I built a sand castle to keep her away from me.
That point of land is called Point Loma. Point Loma is sometimes called "where California began" as it the site of the first European landing in California. On September 28, 1542 the Portuguese navigator, Juan Rodrigo Cabrillo docked his ship on the point. I wanted to visit the Cabrillo National Monument, but we didn't have time. Did you know Jill has a horse named Cabrillo? She named him after this area.

Later, Sally tried to tempt me into the tidal pools. I am not falling for that! Not tonight, Josephine!

She even tried to make me touch a Sea Anemone. Good try Sally, I am way ahead of you! You touch it.

The Hotel Del plays Tony's movie, Some Like it Hot, 24 hours a day!

Since people expect me to be "in the know" about Tony, I did some reading. This is Tony's new book that comes out on October 7th.

Later that evening, we attended a big event in the Ballroom. We watched Tony's clips and then Jill and Tony went on stage where Tony gave us all some behind the scenes stories about making the film and his life in Hollywood.

We had a wonderful time in Coronado!

Now, I am off to get some well deserved rest. We are heading to Sedona, AZ in two weeks.

Traveler and his Pen Pal

Traveler does get some fan mail from time to time, but he has been conversing with adopted Shiloh horse, Carson, for some time now. Normally, I don't see what they are saying, but this email was sent directly to me and I thought you all might like to read it.

Dear Jill,

This is Carson who is concerned about his buddy, Traveler. The pictures of Traveler "close to the water" were OK....I didn't worry...however, I don't trust Sally not to drop Traveler in the briny California waters.....you know she's not trustworthy since the "Roman episode". Please keep an eye on her so she doesn't "accidentally" drown Traveler. Thank you so much.....and Kathy and Larry wanted me to tell you to have a good time...just be alert...OK??????

Then I noticed that Travler had used my Blackberry during the night and answered:

Dear Carson,

Tell me about it! Sally said she is taking me "boogie boarding" today. Jill looked quesy when she said it.

Traveler at the Hotel Del Coronado

It's a big weekend, Tony and I are at the Hotel Del Coronado for the 50th Anniversary of Some Like it Hot. There are lots of people here and we have two big events to attend...


The Hotel del was built in 1888 and is one of the last remaining wooden structures from the Victorian Era. I heard it is haunted and will be keeping a sharp eye out for anything susipicious.

I love the beach here. In fact, I intend to spend the day on Saturday sitting and sun bathing in the sand...

The North Island Naval Base is just down the road on Coronado and I can sit and watch the Navy jets coming in for landings...

I have lots to do and explore this weekend, so keep an eye on me!
