It was early, so I stayed in Jill's pocket as we set off...
Checking the map of the Metro, but I'm not sure where we are going.
I was first on the train and it was crowded!
Where are all these people going?
Could it be? Is it?
It is! It's the Palace of Versailles! Home of Kings!
This is King Louis, we met in his private apartments.
Here is his private desk made out of solid steel. No one could get into it but the King.
His Toillette!
Here is Marie- Antoinette's bed! Doesn't look very comfortable, especially since in those times, people could watch her sleep!
The beautiful Hall of Mirrors!
Spectacular! Tony would love one of these!
Back outside, it was pouring rain...
Sally helped me warm up.
This is called the Grand Trianon built by a King for his mistress! Oh La La!
It is built of Rose Marble and so beautiful!
But here's what I really wanted to see, the private retreat of Queen Marie-Antionette! She had her own estate within the Palace grounds where she could escape from the public and the Court.
Here is her little house, the Petit Trianon. She lived here without the King sometimes, surrounded by her close friends.
Her inner garden- it was back to Nature for the Queen!
She had lots of animals to play with, her own private natural pond, no formal gardens.
Sometimes she would eat out here with her friends...
My favorite part of the visit was sitting here at her pond listening to frogs and birds. I wonder what ever happened to her and her King? Did she live Happily Ever After? I hope so...
Well, back to reality, we are off to Las Vegas tomorrow by way of Trains, Planes, and Automobiles! The Girls promised to take me to Shiloh to meet everyone who followed my European Adventures! God Save the Queen, Viva La France, and Viva Las Vegas!
